Outdoor carpet is extremely durable and long lasting. It is made to withstand the elements. However, if outdoor carpet remains moist or even wet over long periods of time, plants such as mosses and lichens can grow in it. Moss grows best in moist, shady areas. Besides being dirty, and ruin the look of your outdoor moss carpet it is slippery. You can turn your carpet on a slippery runway. Use safety goggles and rubber gloves to protect your eyes and hands. Mix 1/2 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket. Wipe the moss carpet outdoors with brush and bleach solution. Be careful not to splash the solution. Let the bleach set for five to ten minutes to kill the moss. Rinse the outdoor carpet thoroughly with a garden hose.

The cleaning solution of bleach / water with a wet / dry. The vacuum moss and dirt left in the carpet is also deleted. Repeat this step and vacuum the rug outdoors until you get as much water as you can. Hang the carpet in the sun to dry. Stay off the outdoor carpet until completely dry.
